Swedish Match Singleton's Super Menthol

Page history last edited by Tony Barr 10 years, 8 months ago

In the past I criticised this snuff for having far too much menthol. Now that I have revisited it I find not to be as overwhelming as it once was, though it still doesn't taste the same as it used to when Illingworth's were producing it back in the late 70s and early 80s, before the disastrous fire which finished the company off. Or maybe nostalgia just isn't what it used to be...

I don't know where Super Menthol is produced now.

It's not a bad snuff these days and well worth a try. Medium grind and moisture with a good enough tobacco base. The aluminium dispensers (important when this snuff was widely used by miners in the Midlands) seem to have been replaced with plastic ones and they are reluctant to disgorge the snuff, making using Super Menthol a discouraging prospect. I'm tempted to prize it open and dump the lot in a snuff box. Overall good enough, but nothing special.
