Frederick Tranter 29 Special

When I first opened the tin of 29 Special I found myself rechecking the label.... No, it isn't Wilson's Royal George but it's a very close cousin indeed. I get the same marzipan, vanilla, rose, violet and sandalwood tones (among others) that I get from Royal George and indeed the colour and grind are indistinguishable - a medium red-brown and medium-fine. The marzipan is possibly less pronounced than in Royal George but that could be down to nothing more than different batches. The scent lingers for a very long time. In fact, after taking a pinch of this, sampling any other snuff is going to be problematical! It's a snuff I'll enjoy occasionally but certainly not all day and every day.
