Vindey is a participatory democracy with a two party system, whose main dividing issue is whether to seek alliance with the Imperium or not. The “Imperiosceptics” claim that this would ruin Vindey, while the pro-Imperial politicians see immense advantages in such an association. Most people assume that there is a large amount of enlightened self-interest in the politicians’ viewpoints. Currently the pro-Imperial party is in power.

 

Although lower tech than some of its neighbours, Vindey has some of the best agricultural land in the archipelago and a strong desire to retain it. Therefore it has a larger than usual standing army, and has invested heavily in equipment for its ground forces to counteract the technological advantage that some of the other nations have.
