Another good quality plain snuff from South Africa, Babaton Blue is in the same style as Taxi Red (or Blue) or NTSU Plain. It is very coarse (though not quite as coarse as Taxi or NTSU), very dark, very moist and very tasty. This isn't a snuff for delicate sniffing but but to apply to the nostrils in copious quantities with a shovel. A certain amount of ammonia is inevitably present in a fresh tub but I find this merely enhances the deep, farmyard-like flavour (and that is meant in a good way). It is reminiscent of Gawith Hoggarth's Kendal Brown (when really fresh) or Bernard's Gekachelte Virginie, both of which I love.
The snuff comes in a neat, practical 10g plastic tub which seems to keep the snuff nice and fresh and is also reusable. To me that is a big plus. I hate having to throw out old snuff tins, even if they are rusty and not airtight. If I could buy this one by the kilo I would do!
