It has been said that this is one of the older Fribourg & Treyer recipes, listed as early as 1799, so it is particularly gratifying to see it resurrected by Wilson's of Sharrow, who now produce all the Fribourg & Treyer snuffs. Wilson's say that it is a blend of six different snuff and going by the flavour I am certainly not going to contradict that claim. The result is a mid-brown medium snuff, subtle and complex in it's flavourings and very satisfying in the nose. I do not find the flavouring as overpowering as that in some other F&T snuffs, the blend being gently floral with a hint of sweetness and spice, not unlike F&T's Dr J.R. Justice mixture but lacking the longevity in the nose of the latter. As such it makes for a better all day snuff in my opinion, whereas I tend to restrict my use of the Dr J.R. Justice to the evening (if I am in the mood for it). As for actually identifying all the flavourings that go into this sort, I fear my nose isn't up to the task. Suffice to say that I would recommend this snuff to anyone.
